Bush y su cara “pornográfica”
Varias imágenes pornográficas componen el rostro del presidente de Estados Unidos, George W. Bush, en un polémico collage de un artista británico que decidió ofrecer esta peculiar versión del inquilino de la Casa Blanca después de que se prescindiera de sus servicios como retratista.
Jonathan Yeo, que así se llama el artista, muestra desde esta semana en la galería Lazarides, en pleno Soho londinense, su controvertida obra, que, a primera vista, parece totalmente casta.
Pero, si uno se fija con atención, descubre que los retazos que componen las facciones del presidente son imágenes sexuales explícitas, entre ellas alguna que otra felación.
La propia galería explica en un comunicado que Yeo recibió un encargo para hacer un retrato del presidente, sin duda con un tono más “oficialista”.
El pedido, según el diario The Sun , procedía de la Biblioteca Bush, que recordará el legado del presidente estadounidense una vez que abandone la Casa Blanca, pero finalmente quedó en nada porque los comisarios de esa institución se echaron atrás.
Pero Yeo decidió continuar con el trabajo aunque, eso sí, con otra idea en mente.
Y para ello seleccionó fragmentos de imágenes pornográficas de más de un centenar de publicaciones y las unió para componer la cara de Bush, quien dejará el cargo en enero de 2009.
“Lo hice por diversión, no para ofender, pero estoy satisfecho con el resultado”, señaló el artista al presentar esta semana su obra.
El retrato de Yeo, que curiosamente es hijo de un diputado conservador británico, Tim Yeo, ha causado malestar en las filas republicanas estadounidenses.
Un portavoz de ese partido, citado por The Sun, augura que el retrato causará indignación en Estados Unidos.
“Alguna gente pensará que es divertido, pero personalmente creo que es un montaje barato”, considera. “¿Por qué alguien querría hacer una imagen de nuestro presidente a partir de material pornográfico?”, se pregunta otro portavoz republicano.
